Tool 11 Reflection

Creating my blog was confusing and frustrating at times. It was especially difficult to complete it with 3 kids running around the house. However, I really have wanted to learn how to create a blog. Although I feel great now that I am finished I know that I still need to work on a few of the tools so that I am a proficient blogger. My son is so excited that I have learned to blog because he can't wait to create a blog of his own. I am so excited that I will be able to teach him how to do this. I was surprised that I was able to do this because I am technologically challenged. I will use skype in my classroom and have my students participate in book talks with other students at another SBISD school. I will also have my students create photostories for different subjects and high interest areas. My favorite tool was tool number 7. I love photostory! I liked it the most because it was meaningful to me. I think when learning is meaningful to our students they will make great progress!

Tool 11 Digital Citizenship

Although technology is wonderful we must teach our students the rules and responsibilities that come with using advanced technology. Appropriate online behavior is essential in making appropriate comments. Comments should be tactful and constructive. Our students must learn that it is never o.k. to give out any personal information. It is never acceptable for anyone to participate in cyber bullying or to allow anyone to bully them.

Tool 10

I can't wait to use the itouches and i pads. There are several apps that I looked at that I will be be able to use in the class: The Oregon Trail Free, Math Tutor Lite, Math Tappers: Multiples, Math Tappers Estimate Fractions, Math Races Lite, and Write Answer:Sums

Tool 9

I've used skype to keep in touch with my family who live out of town. It is a great way for us to keep in touch when we live so far away form each other. I read on my friends blog that her teenagers use skype to discuss and review homework. I never thought about using it that way. My friend also said she thought it would be great to have book talks. I really think my third graders would love that! I will definitely do this with other teachers at a different SBISD school "book talks" are great way for our students to share and collaborate with one another.

I thought this video on the different types of rocks was interesting and a great way to introduce our lesson. It is engaging and fun. I also chose the video on Lewis and Clark because it is I think it is a great way to present new vocabulary to second language learners, and those children who are visual learners.
